The round table was organized by the Qatar Chamber in cooperation with the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Qatar. The event coincided with the visit of the president of the Republic of Poland to Qatar. The event was attended by: President of the Republic of Poland Andrzej Duda, Minister of Trade and Industry of Qatar Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Kassim Al Abdullah Al Thani, heads of the largest Polish companies as well as Qatari and Polish entrepreneurs.
Qatar’s Minister of Trade and Industry made an opening speech in which he encouraged the strengthening of economic, trade, and investment relations between the two countries.
In his speech, the Polish president emphasized the importance of Qatari-Polish cooperation, especially in the field of energy security, not only for Poland but for the entire Central European region. He pointed to the possibilities of developing economic cooperation between the two countries. He proposed a solution to the problem of Poland’s negative trade balance resulting from Qatari imports of liquefied natural gas. This solution is the export of Polish agricultural products to Qatar, technology transfer in the infrastructure sector, and exchange of experience in the organization of sports events. The President of the Republic of Poland expressed his appreciation for the activities of the Qatar-Poland Business Council (QPBC), which promotes and supports Polish-Qatari trade relations in the private sector.
Then, representatives of the largest Polish companies, such as PGNiG, the Polish Air Navigation Services Agency, and the Polish Development Bank (BGK), presented their offers indicating the possibilities of future cooperation with Qatar.
Subsequently, three memoranda of understanding were signed between Qatar and Polish entities: Targi Kielce and Qatar Convention Center, ZPUE KORNEA and Technical Trade Services Company, AIDA diagnostics, and Edraq Healthcare Solutions.
After the official part was over, it was time for business-to-business talks, which we hope will expand the scope of Polish-Qatari business cooperation in the private sector.
